Mom's Mistakes

If you are anything like me, there are a lot of valuable lessons to learn from your mom. For instance, perms are a bad idea, leg warmers were never that cool and high waisted jeans are a fashion must. After all, learning from your mom’s mistakes and triumphs is arguably a rite of passage.  

When I started shopping for a wedding dress my mom was the first to browse my Pinterest board and help me set appointments. One Sunday afternoon we got the crazy idea that I should try on her wedding dress from 1988. I was so excited to finally see it, as I have ogled over their wedding album for years.  

We rushed to the basement and my mom started rummaging through the boxes. I heard an excited “I found it” from the other room. Sadly, the excitement was short-lived. When we got the dress into better lighting, we were faced with the hash reality that it had yellowed. My mom insisted that she had it cleaned and packaged away safely,but it was not enough.
