Coordinating Your Wedding Dress to Your Cincinnati Wedding Venue

You’ve set the date. You’ve found the PERFECT venue for your dream wedding. Now comes the best part (aside from marrying your love) – finding your wedding gown! But how do you match your dress to that one-of-a-kind venue?

We are here to help at Blue Bridal, an award-winning Cincinnati wedding dress shop in the Reading Bridal District. Our team of talented stylists can help you seamlessly blend your venue’s vibes with your preferred gown. The wedding dress and Cincinnati wedding venue you choose will together set the tone and style of your special day. Brides often use their venues as inspiration for the details of their wedding dress.

(However, if you don’t want to match your venue – don’t! If your ideal wedding dress is a classic ballgown, but your venue is more casual, that’s OK. Wear your dream dress because nothing is prettier than a happy bride. That being said, if you prefer to have a cohesive vibe with both your dress and Cincinnati wedding venue, read on for tips from Blue Bridal!)

Blue Bridal is a unique bridal store in the Reading Bridal District of Cincinnati. We specialize in off-the-rack gowns ready to take home the same day of purchase. This means the bridal gown is in your size! We also carry a curated line of orderable gowns available in a variety of sizes.

Rustic Romance

If you’re getting married at a beautiful barn-style venue like the Honey Farm, located near Lebanon, you’re going to need something special. Try Callan, from Justin Alexander’s Adore line, a flowy chiffon dress with boho lace panels. This orderable gown can be purchased at Blue Bridal in the Cincinnati Bridal District and comes in several sizes. The dainty spaghetti straps and sexy plunging neckline make this an unforgettable dress that would fit right in the Honey Farm’s 60 acres (which include a wildflower field, vintage truck and old Western town!)

Our lovely bride Delaney chose a long-sleeve A-line wedding gown with impeccable lace detailing at the top and a simpler skirt. She looked gorgeous doing her sparkler exit under the bistro lights at the Honey Farm!

The Bicentennial Barn is another phenomenal rustic wedding venue in the Cincinnati area. This romantic A-line bridal gown would look amazing against the wood interiors or posing near the dramatic wrought-iron steps. The whimsically patterned wedding dress is off the rack and currently available in a size 16 at Blue Bridal in the Cincinnati wedding district.

Bride Breanne also favored lace for her Bicentennial Barn wedding. We loved the stunning lace train on her rustic wedding dress! And peep her husband’s coordinating cowboy hat. The barn’s facade made a great backdrop for the couple’s wedding photos.

Vintage Venues

If you choose one of Cincinnati’s historic wedding venues, you will need a gown that lives up to the occasion. The Transept, located in Over-the-Rhine, was originally a church built in the German Gothic style. Today, it’s an iconic wedding venue full of antique details. We think Blue’s romantic orderable gown with its puffy sleeves, ornate lace top and soft flowy skirt would look incredible at the Transept. It’s the perfect blend of vintage and modern! (And it twirls like a dream.)

This whimsical Blue bride favored a dreamy A-line silhouette at the Transept. The wings on the back of her gown and waist details further elevate this bridal look. And we just adore all the sweet vintage touches in this photo from the brick wall to the Tiffany-style lamp on the table! It showcases what makes the Transept special.

Looking for another timeless Cincinnati wedding venue? The Palomar was built in 1884 and originally home to a Catholic parish. The Walnut Hills wedding venue still features several original details in addition to fresh updates. This beaded off-the-rack size 2 gown would shine under the venue’s large windows. The fitted wedding dress has a subtle blush undertone, an elegant plunging neckline and show-stopping fitted long sleeves.

Bride Courtney favored a sweet lace A-line for her wedding at the Palomar. Her cathedral-length veil and lush bouquet completed her bridal look! (And her cute groom, too.)

Classic Cincinnati

Have you been dying to wear a ballgown since you were a little girl? A wedding at the Taft Museum of Art is the perfect excuse to don one! The venue’s charming gardens and tented brick terrace for weddings are located behind the museum, once the home of well-known Cincinnatians Anna and Charles Taft. This off-the-rack strapless ballgown is a work of art that would fit right in the treasures of the Taft Museum. The graceful sweetheart neckline on top and voluminous tulle under the sleek silk on bottom will make any bride stand out. The size 18 wedding dress is available at Blue Bridal in the Reading Bridal District.

Blue Bride Halie chose a fitted clean gown with off-the-shoulder straps for her nuptials at the Taft Museum. She and her husband look right at home on the museum’s steps under the striking columns!

The Bell Event Centre is known for its stained glass windows and vaulted ceilings. The Over-the-Rhine venue was once St. Paul’s Church before it became a hotspot on the Cincinnati wedding scene. Kinsley from Justin Alexander’s Adore line blends classic lace with a clean crepe skirt for a look worthy of such a venue. This fitted beauty's unique details like beaded straps and underarm cutouts take it to the next level. She can be found at Blue Bridal in the Reading Bridal District.

Lace A-lines and classic venues are another match made in heaven. This Blue bride opted for such a look and paired it with a sophisticated fingertip-length veil. (Did you know you can find veils and other accessories at Blue, too?!)

Downtown Darlings

If your Cincinnati wedding venue is one that exudes “cool” like The Spot on West Fifth, you need a killer gown. This downtown hotspot will suit many vibes with its brick walls, wood floors and industrial-chic ceiling. A supremely sexy dress like the one below with off-the-shoulder straps, visible boning and a serious slit is ideal for a downtown Cincinnati wedding. Best of all, this stunner is off the rack and currently available in sizes 4, 12 and 20 at Blue Bridal in the Cincinnati Wedding District!

One of the perks of getting married in downtown Cincinnati is utilizing the streets and buildings for your wedding photography. The incredible Danielle (who is both a Blue Bride AND master stylist) did just that at her summer wedding at the Spot. She selected a stunning lacy fitted number for her day. Danielle completed her strapless look with dangling statement earrings.

The Factory in Northside is another versatile space made for boho brides. The private courtyard is the perfect place to say “I Do” before going inside to party under the cafe lighting, among the hardwood floors and large windows. (Oh, and there’s a firepit outside! How fun is that?!) Mattie, an orderable A-line gown with 3-D floral, delicate spaghetti straps and a flowy bottom, would look flawless at the Factory.

Blue Bride Molly wore a charming A-line gown with pleating on the top to her wedding at the Factory. And just look at the venue’s spacious patio behind her and her groom! You just know everyone at this wedding had an awesome time.
